Lake City Standouts
Tell us about a Lake City person, place, innovation or history-making
moment that has shaped our city!
In anticipation of our city's 150th anniversary in 2009, we would like
to create a "Memory Album" We plan to showcase some Lake City highlights
during the City’s official sesquicentennial.
Is there a person who has truly made a mark on Lake City, or helped
shape our future? Does a place in Lake City have significant meaning to
you or the history of the city? Is there a Lake City product or idea
that changed the ways things are done or the way that we think? How
about an important event when history was made or lives were changed?
Nominations can cover a range of topics as diverse as Lake City:
people
(pop stars to political leaders); places (natural
landmarks to architectural achievements); innovations
(groundbreaking ideas to new products or inventions); and, events.
Share your Lake City memories
Whether your favorite memory or photo comes from just a few years ago or
many decades past, we'd love to hear from you.
In addition to the Memory Album, we hope to use some of the stories in
upcoming City publications and celebrations. If we receive an adequate
response, we might be able to create an exhibit of materials from our
Memory Album.
In addition to your stories, we're very interested in your photos
depicting life in Lake City over the years:
- Any photo that captures "life in Lake City."
- Buildings and scenery that are no longer around.
- Famous visitors, residents and events.
- The good life in Lake City -- and the hard times, too.
- Historical photos.
- Kids at play and in school.
- Neighborhoods - especially old photos showing how things have
changed.
- People at work - part-time or full-time, young or old.
- Recreation, sports and leisure activities.
- Unusual events and unique moments.
- Weather emergencies and their aftermath.
- ... and so on - if you think your photo tells a story, it
probably does!
Famous or obscure, from this decade or the distant past, we’d like to
hear about it!
